Frequently Asked Questions
We have gathered the most common questions about cost, installation, soundproofing, permits and our locations here. For anything else, reach us by phone, WhatsApp or the quote form.
Cost & Quotes
How much does a partition wall cost per square metre?
Cost depends on the system. Single-glazed glass partitions sit below double-glazed versions with better sound insulation. Demountable partitions in a drywall look are the most economical option, with acoustic partitions in between. You receive a binding price for your project after the free on-site measurement.
How does the quote process work and what does it cost?
Send us photos, a sketch or measurements of your situation by form, WhatsApp or email. We review the details and reply within 24 hours with an initial price estimate. The quote is free and non-binding.
When does the price become binding?
After the free on-site measurement you receive a binding fixed price that stays valid until order confirmation. Any changes to the project, such as extra doors or different glazing, are discussed and confirmed in writing beforehand.
Is there a minimum order value?
No, we handle single room divisions as well as multi-room office projects. Very small jobs may carry a travel surcharge, which we always communicate in advance.
What payment terms apply?
Payment terms are set individually in the quote, typically a deposit on order confirmation and the balance after acceptance. We are happy to discuss details in person.
Installation & Process
How long does installation take?
A single office partition is usually installed within a day. Larger projects with several rooms or office pods take 2 to 5 working days depending on scope. We agree the exact schedule with you in the quote.
Can you install while our business keeps running?
Yes, that is how we usually work. We work with protective covers, dust-controlled cutting methods and, where requested, outside core hours or on weekends, so operations are barely interrupted.
Do you also handle removal, reconfiguration and dismantling?
Yes, we remove existing partitions, relocate them elsewhere in the building, or fully dismantle them at the end of a lease. Demountable systems are built specifically for this kind of reuse.
What happens at handover?
Once installation is complete, we review function, finish and cleanliness together with you. You receive a written acceptance report documenting the condition at handover.
Who handles power and ventilation for office pods?
Office pods with their own lighting and ventilation need a power connection installed by an electrician. We coordinate this step with your electrician or recommend a partner firm in your area if needed.
Soundproofing & Technical Details
What Rw values do the partitions achieve?
Depending on construction, our systems reach Rw values between 32 dB for simple single-glazed solutions and 45 dB for demountable partitions with double panelling and mineral wool insulation. For meeting rooms needing more confidentiality we recommend at least 40 dB.
What glass do you use for glass partitions?
We work with toughened safety glass (ESG) and laminated safety glass (VSG), depending on requirements for safety and sound insulation. VSG with an acoustic interlayer improves both impact resistance and sound insulation compared with plain ESG.
What do EI30 or EI60 mean for fire-rated partitions?
EI30 and EI60, under the guidelines of the Association of Cantonal Fire Insurers (VKF), describe the number of minutes a wall maintains integrity and insulation in a fire. We use certified systems accordingly wherever escape routes or fire protection are affected.
Are demountable partitions really reusable?
Yes, demountable partitions are screwed together rather than glued, so they can be relocated, reconfigured or fully removed without damaging the building structure. That makes them attractive for leased space with a limited term.
What door options are available?
We install hinged doors, sliding doors and all-glass doors with different hardware, on request with a lock cylinder or electronic access. We discuss the right option during the on-site measurement.
Legal & Permits
Do I need a building permit for a partition wall?
Non-load-bearing, demountable partitions that do not affect structure, escape routes or fire protection are exempt from permits in most German-speaking cantons. A permit is required once load-bearing elements, escape routes or fire protection are affected.
Who checks whether a permit is needed?
We check with you before production starts whether your project needs a permit and point out any next steps. Filing with the local authority remains the responsibility of the building owner, and we support this with plans and technical details.
Does this vary by canton?
Yes, practice varies between the cantons of Zurich, Schwyz, St. Gallen and Glarus. We know the requirements across our service area and flag anything specific to your case.
Do tenants need landlord approval?
Structural changes such as installing partitions usually require the landlord's approval. We recommend obtaining this in writing before placing an order.
What applies when a lease ends?
Demountable partitions can be removed without leaving residue, so the original condition of the leased space is usually restored without major extra work. We can also handle the removal as a standalone job.
Locations & Service Area
Where is Trennwandprofis based?
We operate from two locations: our head office at Kronenwis 1a, 8864 Reichenburg SZ, right at the A3 motorway exit, and a second location at Niderwisstrasse 2, 8627 Grüningen ZH in the Zurich Oberland.
What area does Trennwandprofis cover?
Our service area reaches from the city of Zurich across the Zurich Oberland and the Gold Coast to the Obersee, into Glarnerland, Ausserschwyz and the left shore of Lake Zurich. Which location handles your project depends on your postcode.
How long is the travel time to my area?
Travel time from the responsible location varies by area, roughly 10 to 40 minutes. We state the exact travel time on each area page and in your quote.
Do you work outside the areas listed?
For larger projects we also review enquiries outside our core area, for example in Aargau. Contact us directly and we will tell you whether and on what terms we can take on your project.
Can I visit a location in person?
A visit is possible by appointment, though we usually handle your project directly on site during the free measurement. Call or write to us to arrange a time.
